District 205 is in process of establishing career academies in each of the high schools over the next couple of years. The plan is to have the following four academies: Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial and Trades Technology; Health Sciences; Business, Arts, Marketing and Information Technology; and Human and Public Services. Prior to start of their sophomore year, each student will choose one of the career academies. The pilot school is Jefferson which currently is piloting a freshmen academy which is introducing students to the various career paths, developing individual career plans and identifying mentors. Jefferson will implement the career academies in the 2013-2014 school year. In preparation for Jefferson HS students selecting a career academy, an Academy Expo highlighting various career paths will be held on November 15 and 16. The RRVTMA will have a booth staffed with our Apprentice Administrator, Don Williams, with help from various RRVTMA board members and current apprentices to show what they do, i.e., parts, prints, tooling, pictures, etc.

Also, RRVTMA will have the opportunity to highlight the Apprenticeship Programs at a senior career morning at Belvidere High School. This is scheduled for November 15, 8:30-11:30 am.
We are excited to have the opportunity to educate our future workforce!
